I recently move to a fairly warm climate - Athens GA. Even though I may not be swimming in January, do I have to “Winterize” my pool?

Hello YosemiteSam - Since you are in a warmer climate, it is up to you if you want to winterize the pool. You could leave it open. If there is a freeze coming you can keep the pump running. That way the water in the lines do not freeze and rupture the plumbing.

The answer to when you open and close the pool is a personal choice. Most people close it up when they are done swimming for the year and then open it back up as soon as the weather is nice again.

Solar panels or a heat pump would extend the season a couple months. A gas heater, in some cases, has the ability to heat the pool year-round.
