I have a variable speed pump. Installed 4 years ago. I have a Sta-rite sysem 3 filter. Recently I have a problem pool water not being filtered. My pump is running very well. The water is flowing out of the jets into the pool very good. Then I noticed the skimmer seems to be taking water in a a very fast rate.
Anyone know what is wrong?
Hello Silvertarget - Thank you for contacting Inyo. Is the water level of the pool half way up the skimmer door opening?
Yes it is half way up.
Maybe some of the valves on the suction side of the system were adjusted inadvertently. You can open up the main drain more. That will take some suction away from the skimmer. You can also run the pump at a lower speed.
Already checked the valves, and the pump has been set at the same setting for a few years with no problems.
Is your weir door functioning properly? Sometimes they get stuck and water won’t flow in enough to fill up the skimmer. The effect of this will be a skimmer that appears to be sucking water in too quickly.
If it’s not the weir door, can you post a video of the skimmer?
