Water Coming out of Backwash Hose During Filter Cycle

I have a Jacuzzi Sandfilter Model # L192C-7c. We have water coming out of our backwash hose while the filter is on. We have done all of the following and it is still happening.

  • We have checked all hoses for leaks
  • Replaced the o-ring
  • Replaced the valve with a brand new one
  • Replaced pressure gauge
  • Checked the main tank for any leaks

Any suggestions, I am running out of things to troubleshoot.

Thank you for contacting Inyo. Water would come out of the backwash line if the spider gasket in the diverter is bad. Although you have a new valve, the spider gasket could already be pinched or damaged. Remember to always turn the valve in the same direction. Going back and forth can cause the gasket to get pinched and then you’ll have leaks.

A temporary quick fix would be to plug the backwash line and then remove the plug whenever you have to backwash.

We bought a brand new multiport valve from Inyo -

Dvk-7c Valve, Clamp Type - 39263020K

Wouldn’t that have a new spider gasket in it?  Could it be a problem with the sand pipe? Or with the pump?

The new valve would already have a new spider gasket but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t have been pinched already.

Try removing the six screws at the top of the valve and removing the top assembly (with pump off). Clean out any debris that may be in the valve housing or on the spider gasket.

A cracked standpipe wouldn’t cause the water to leak from the backwash line. The pump shouldn’t impact that either unless the HP was too high for the filter. If you haven’t increased the HP recently, that shouldn’t be an issue.

What is HP that you are referring to?

HP stands for horsepower.
