Using Silicone sealant / Adhesive when replacing shaft seal WFSD-26

HI all,
I am replacing the shaft seal in my Pentair WFSD-26 . I see some people say use silicone adhesive and other say no… What should be done?

You want to use a lubricant, preferably NOT silicone based.
