Unusual Pentair Pool Light Model- Need to Find replacement parts for 06-2002 Pentair Spa & 3 Pool Lights: Spa went out, 1 Pool Light is dim

Spa light, stopped working, the label is missing. However, I removed the middle of the three pool lights and there is a label.

This is the spa light

Pool light label.

I cannot find anything on the Pentair Website with any of these numbers:
Series #64000X,
Use with Model #7824xx or 792066,
Label #650040.
Watts 58
Volts 120
Bulb Type: (1) MR8, 35W; (2) MR11, 35W
Fixture Housing, Wet Niche Type. Fresh Water Only.

  1. Do you think the Spa Light and Pool Light are the same?

  2. What do I need to DIY fix/repair/replace the Spa light?

  3. I am considering replacing the Pool Lights while I am at it.

  4. How do I find replacement parts/lights that are compatible?

Note: I am wanting to learn and do this myself after the last pool company removed my spa light, broke 1 of 3 internal light and then put it back in the pool (same gasket) which then proceeded to rust (as you can see by the photo). Said he never saw such a spa light before and after his research said he could not help me and suggested I replace everything with new lights that were “industry standard” that he was familiar with. I have the time and the interest to learn and do this fix myself, correctly.

Thank you for any helpful suggestions and ideas.

We are sorry to hear of your issues with your pool maintenance folks. Let’s see if we can help.

It looks like you have a Pentair SAL (Spectrum Aqualight) which were pretty spiffy lights when they came out - there were not a lot of options available back then for color-changing pool lights like these.

To answer your questions:

The pool lights may be the same as the spa lights. If they are the same physical size they are probably the same.

Fixing or repairing the light is probably out of the question. Most of the parts are obsolete and will be difficult/impossible to find.

Replacing them entirely is your best option. You will need to know the size of the niche that the lights are installed in for replacements, but the Pentair Amerlite or the J&J XG-series (available from a brick-and-mortar Hayward dealer) lights should replace them. There are others as well, but, whatever you get, be sure to get replacements that are the correct voltage and with a long-enough power cord.
