Two Motor Questions

See 1st image:

I replaced my filter motor 3 years ago and the pump recently developed a leak. I cannot locate the source of the leak. I suspect seals need to be replaced. What is your opinion.

The spa pump motor will not run. It is a Pac-Fab Challenger II pump installed in 1986. I cannot read the lablel on the motor, It does run on 220V. What do you recommed for a replacement?

Hello WarpCommander - We’d be glad to assist you. The pool pump in your first picture is a Hayward Super II. The seal kit for that pump is GOKIT2. If you have salt water, the kit is GOKIT2SALT.

We can determine the correct motor for your spa pump if you can provide the part number on th impeller. You’ll have to take the pump apart in order to expose the impeller.

Thank-you.  I have ordered the GOKIT2.

The number on the impeller of the second pump is 35-5431.  When I opened up the pump I found pieces of PVC from an old spa drain cover stuck in the impeller.  I removed those and the pump motor now runs.  I put the pump back togother and it works, but it also leaks around the clamp band.   So, I’d like to know for future use what the replacement motor is.  For now, do you have a set of O-Rings I can install to stop the clamp band leakage/

The impeller number 35-5431 matches up with the Pac-Fab/Pentair Challenger model CHII-N!-2FE. This is a full rated energy efficient 2HP. The replacement motor would be model B2843. The seal kit would be GOKIT5.

Thank you for shopping with INYOpools.com!

Thank-you.  I have ordered GOKIT5.  One question about the motor.  The current motor has 2 capacitors while the picture of the model you recommended only has one.  Does that make a difference?

The new motor having one capacitor on top will not make a difference. The B2843 is still an energy efficient 2HP single speed motor designed for the Challenger pump.
