Can you tell me the process to switch a pool from an ION generator to a saltwater system? the pool is above groung 15 x 30 x 54". Also which salt water system would you reccomend?

From my understanding, there is nothing special you need to do to switch from an ion generator to a saltwater system. You would un-install the Ion Generator and install the Salt System. After the salt system is installed then you will follow the instructions that come with the salt system for installation.
