Gettin ready to winterize my new to me in ground pool, but I cannot remove the ladder to make room for a cover. The bolts that attach the ladder to the cement are loose. I can pull them out with my fingers. I placed a car floor jack in between the hand rails and using lumber, attempted to lift it straight up. No luck.
I’m about ready to order an oversized cover so I can go up and over the entire ladder. I am in South Carolina and many area pool owners don’t bother with a cover. I have a tree line of pine near the pool and it is a magnet for pine needles, thus my only reason for a cover.
Hello HKenyon3 - It sounds like the wedge in the anchor is stuck in place. Pour some water into the anchor hole. Then loosen the bolts slightly and tap them down lightly with a hammer. This should free up the wedge and loosen the ladder rail.
If you can, video yourself doing this and upload it to the forum or email content@inyopools.com. This would really help our customers in the future.
Thanks, Rob! I’ll sure give it a try. The bolts are bottomed out on the concrete and are not threaded into anything. I’m wondering if I should get longer bolts so that they can thread into the wedges and then lightly tapping down.
I looked into the bolt hole with a strong LED flashlight to see how long of a bolt I would need. There is no female hole with threads at all. I also poked around with a long awl but felt nothing.
I read where someone with the same problem inserted a rod into the bolt hole and tapped on it with success. I’ll try that next.
I am almost resolved to the fact that the previous owner removed the wedges altogether and I will have to purchase an oversized cover.
