Greetings,

I had a great discussion with Hector today concerning my inground pool.  I purchased a maintenance kit today for my two Hayward Northstar 1.5 HP pumps.  One pump used for the spa jet pump and the other for the filter pump.  Hector and I discussed the replacement of the filter pump.  He suggested a variable speed using my perferred brand Pentair.  Hector suggested before purchasing a replacement pump, I ensure that any new pump be compatible with my existing configuration…so here it goes.

i have a Hayward DE filter model DE6020 currently at  18 pound of pressure.

I have the Hayward Northstar 1.5 HP pump model 8 193233.

I have Jandy Aqualink RS controls, basically used for on/off and pump timer.

if I were to replace the pump with a cost effective variable speed pump made by Pentair, what would you suggest?

Hello WhiteJ - We would recommend the Penatir Intelliflo model 011018. That is a 3HP variable speed pump. Don’t be alarmed because of the higher HP rating. You would be operating the pump at a lower speed.

All of the operations would be controlled at the display on the pump. You would only hook it up to the Aqualink RS for power.
