Saltwater Chlorinators with Variable Speed Pumps

Hello,

I have a 2HP variable speed Blue Torrent pool pump that runs it’s schedule from it’s internal timer and not connected to an external pump timer.

I’m looking into converting to a salt water chlorinator.  So far, many of the chlorinators require that they are not powered unless the pump is powered.  In my set up, there is no way to set my pool pump up in series with a salt water chlorinator.

Is the “low flow” feature not enough to “turn off the power” to the chlorinator when my pump is running at the lower variable speeds…or off completely?

Any suggestions on models will be appreciated.

Right now, I have approximately 15,000-16,000 gallon pool.

The low flow will automatically turn the salt system off. However, we recommend connecting it to a timer just in case that flow feature fails. A simple mechanical timer could be set to turn the salt system on and off during the same time the pump is scheduled to turn on and off.
