Salt water system question

I have a question. I have a Hayward Aqua Rite Electronic Chlorine Generator (GLX_CTL_RITE) for my 20’x40’ (35,000 gal) in-ground pool. The system is 4-1/2 years old and is generating chlorine, seemingly with no problems. When I cycle through the diagnostic displays all readings are normal. The cell has recently been cleaned.

The average salt reading recently is 2700 and the instant salinity reading is 2900. The problem is this, when I had my pool water checked at my local pool store the salt level readings were 4300 ppm. Just to double check I took a pool water sample to a competitive pool store and the reading was 4200 ppm. Actually, those high readings floored me because I have not been adding salt to the pool over the past several months. Still, I have to assume my pool salt level is 4200.

If I dilute the salt level to lower it from 4200 to 3200 my Aqua Rite controller will probably read around 1900 and stop generating chlorine.

I am not interested in having a Hayward tech come out because they don’t trouble shoot, they just replace boards, at my expense, and hope it solves the problem. I have been down this road with them before on another issue.

Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you,
