I have a salt system for my inground pool.
I want to convert it to Chlorine pool.
If I remove the salt cell is there is there, is there a straight line empty pipe that I can screw in to replace the cell?
Can I just unplug the cell and leave it in place?.
DoI have to remove the existing salt from my cell?
Hi Shakree,
You would just need to remove your salt cell and then purchase a piece of 1.5" or 2" schedule 40 pipe at your local hardware store to go in place of your salt cell. You may keep the salt in the pool without issue. You may want to add something like this Rainbow 320 Inline Chlorinator for your chlorine tablets.
So I unscrew the cell and I purchase a piece of pipe. Then I would have to cut the PVC to glue the pipe in … I am trying to avoid the cut in case I want to go back to salt in the future. Is there a product available that will accomplish that?
Yes what you described is correct. There is something called a dummy cell, which is just a cell with no working insides. Which salt chlorine generator do you have and I check if there is a dummy cell for your unit.
Thanks, Patrick,
It is a standard Heyward t 15 cell.
Thanks Shakree, This AquaRite Straight Pipe Placeholder should do the trick.
