Salt cell generator not working properly

I have a Hayward Goldline Aqua Plus. Opened the pool this year and got everything cranked up and running. Set chlorinator to 100% to bump up chlorine and after about 30 minutes or so diagnostics shows chlorinator off percentage met. Chlorinator does not come on again unless I turn the filter off and back on again. It chlorinates for another 30 minutes or so and gives the same results. Does this on all percentage settings. After I get the percentage met message adjusting percentage up does not restart generator. Salt is at 3500 - checked in diagnostics and on a digital salinity gauge. Also shows voltage when the chlorinator is working. Flow indicator shows flow. Water temp. is 62 F and air temp. Is mid 60’s. No warning/check system lights on. When I run on super chlorinate chlorine generation runs for the full 3 hour time set in the system. I have checked for chlorine at the jets with test strips and am getting chlorine when the system shows that it is chlorinating.

Salt cell is a Hayward T-15 purchased in March 2023. Worked as it should all last season. Cell was removed and stored indoors during the winter.

Anyone have any ideas? Have been all over the internet and cannot find mention of a similar problem.

That’s a tough one for sure. How old is your Aqua Plus system? The pins between the boards and on the salt cell cable connection can oxidize over time and cause strange issues. If your system is older (and out of warranty) and if you are comfortable doing it, turn the power off and take the covers off the system. Inspect and remove and reseat the boards and any other connections you can. Look around for anything that does not look right (overheated components or burned spots on any of the boards). Hopefully, that will solve it.

Make sure controls are set to Pool and not Spa, if you have that selection
