Our Hayward SP2602VSP has started making some loud noises (whining?) after 2 years of continuous lowspeed (1000rpm) use. We have recently converted to salt water and did not know we should have installed a salt water kit for the bearing seal. As we seem to need a new motor, what options do we have? We like to run the pump 24/7 on the lowest speed necessary to provide flow for the aquarite clorine generator only using a higher speed to clean the pool 3 times per week. Thanks in advance for the help.
I really like the Pureline Prime 1.65 HP Variable Speed Pump as a replacement to your Hayward Super Pump Variable Speed. The PurelLine Prime is a drop in replacement, the only difference being that the Prime has 2" plumbing ports vs. 1.5" on the Super Pump. You can use these 1.5" x 2" Bushings to go from 1.5" up to 2".
I have the same motor as DavidC18. The motor and the drive is working but I would like to change the bearings, are they available? If not I think if I can get a 2spd replacement motor that would be a good option.
Hi Malc85, I am sorry to say that we do not carry the bearings for the variable-speed motors like the one pictured above. The magnets in them are much stronger than a “regular” motor, so replacing them is not recommended by anyone other than a professional motor shop.
