I currently have an Intex sand filter (16") and a 1.5HP motor for an above ground pool (24’ round). Unfortunately, the motor has cracked due to the harsh winter and I need to replace the pump. Would I need to replace the sand filter if I choose a non-intex pool pump?
Hello Selena - What is the designed flow rate of your Intex filter? This info should be on the label of the filter (20gpm, 30gpm, etc.).
I was incorrect - it was a 0.75HP pump motor and had a turnover rater of 2,450 gph.
I would recommend staying with a 3/4HP or 1HP above ground pump. We offer the Pureline Pure Pro XL models as a replacement option.
Intex usually uses 40mm hoses. The replacement pumps come with 1.5" ports. You’ll probably need to get a couple adapters in order to connect those hoses to the 1.5" ports. You could use part number 4564. There are 2 adapters included with the kit. These would go on the intake and discharge of the pool pump.
