i was hoping I could be guided in the right direction on replacing my pool pump motor. My motor died on me, and I need a replacement. Also I should probably replace any seals while I’m at it. Thanks for any advice. My Motor, and Pool pump are listed below.
Hayward Pool Pump - SP3015X20AZ
Marathon Electric Motor - 5KC39PN2822BX
Hi Agent2013,
Thanks for your pool pump and motor information that helps out a ton! You will need this 2 HP Hayward Super II Replacement Motor along with this Hayward Super II Seal Kit. We also have a Video on How to Replace a Pool Pump Motor which you should find helpful when you tackle this project.
Thank you very much Patrick!. Should I be concerned that I currently have a 1HP motor and I should be having a 2HP? Will my piping be able to handle it? Will my filter system (S7D75 Sta-rite) handle it? And would it cost more electrical wise verses my current 1HP motor? Again, thanks for your help
Hi Agent2013,
The pump model # you referenced of SP3015X20AZ is a Hayward 2 HP pump but the motor model # of 5KC39PN2822BX is a 1 HP motor. My guess is at some point the original 2 HP motor was replaced with a 1 HP motor but you need to make sure that your impeller was also downgraded to a 1 HP impeller as if it was not then the 2 HP impeller will overwork the 1 HP motor causing it to fail prematurely. If the impeller was replaced then I would suggest this 1 HP Replacement Motor If you need any help with removing the impeller or anything else then please let me know as I would be happy to help. FYI there should be a part # embossed into your impeller, if you can obtain this # then we can let you know the HP rating of your impeller.
