I have a two HP - Hayward Super 2 pump (2004 vintage) that has squealing bearing (presumably) and need to do one of the three items:
Ø Replace the bearings …buy them and then either have them replaced or DIY
Ø Replace w/ a new single speed – new replacement motor
o Stay at 2HP or go down to 1.5
Ø Replace motor w/ newer tech –DC – ECM variable speed motor
Thoughts and recommendations – I am attaching a picture of the worn – motor name plate
We’d recommend replacing the motor with model ECM27CU. The ECM27CU is a 2.7HP variable speed motor. We’d also recommend replacing the seals when you replace the motor. The seal kit is part number GOKIT2.
