Can I use a Hayward 2hp sp1615z1m motor as a direct replacement for my 1.5 hp sp1610z1m?
Hi Davy,
You would not want to do this as even with the 2 HP motor you will still be getting the output of the 1.5 HP impeller, however you will be paying the increased energy cost to power the 2 HP motor but only getting the output of the 1.5 HP motor.
You could upgrade to the 2 HP motor but you would need to upgrade to a 2 HP impeller. Could you supply us with the following information:
- Make and model of your filter
- Make and model of your pump
- Your pipe size on inlet of pump
- Approximate Distance of pipe from pump to skimmer at side of pool (if you have two skimmers supply both distances)
- Approximate Distance of pipe from pump to main drain at bottom of pool
This information would help us determine if your filter can handle the increased output of the 2 hp pump.
Thank You
Patrick
I have a Hayward C2025 filter which has 4- 26"L x7" dia. cartridge elements; Hayward super pump SP2610X15; 2" pipe at pump inlet;Approximate distance of 20 ft form skimmer to pump;I have no main drain at bottom of pool.
Hi Davy,
For you set up I would suggest staying with the 1.5 HP motor and you would need the UST1152 Motor and a Hayward Super Pump Tune Up Kit Also here is our Video on How to Replace a Pool Pump Motor which may find helpful.
Thank You
Patrick
