I have an old Hayward H250 PED2 heater which needs a new Bypass valve (about $100 for the part). The heater was installed in 2003 (serial # 30206978, which I’m having trouble decoding). The heater fires up, makes loud banging sounds due to the broken bypass valve, and shuts down, so appears it will run if the part is replaced. The heater has not been used much, spa use only. It is located outside (Phoenix AZ). I’m looking for advice on whether to repair it or replace it due to age.
