I just installed a Raypak 266a pool heater. It started up and lgnited and ran for about 5 min, then it blew the 5 amp fuse and now blows the fues within 5 seconds of turining on… any ideas?
Hi Steelbird12,
This one would probably best for you to chat with Raypak directly. Raypak’s phone # is (805) 278-5300
Thank You

Hi Steelbird 12,
Did you ever find a solution? I am having the same issue.
Thank you,
Brett
Hello Brett - We contacted a Raypak rep. Below was his response.
It is either miswired for 120V or 240v, or there is a dead short somewhere in the internal wiring. The short could be a wire that is pinched in the cabinet, a wire that has come loose and is contacting metal, or a loose connector on the PC board.
The installer should: Confirm incoming power 120V or 240v, and wire the heater accordingly.
Confirm that the ground wire is connected and solid thru the entire circuit.
Inspect the heater for any loose/disconnected or pinched wire.
Inspect the connections on the PC board itself- if pins are loose, replace board.
To isolate, they can disconnect from the board with power off. Then power on and see if the fuse blows. If it does not blow, then plug the wired connectors in- one at a time- until the fuse blows. Whatever connector blows the fuse likely contains the short.
Also check the ground located on the left hand side of the unit. I was blowing fuses until I cleaned this connection.
