Pump will only run on Low

Hello… I have a 5 year old Hayward Super II Pump, model SP3010X152AZ with motor sp1610Z2MC (part# 7-181093-03).  I’ve run it between 11AM to 5PM, first 4 hours on high and last 2 hours on low for the last 5 years.  I live in Florida so its always relatively warm.  This has worked perfectly for my 10k gallon pool.  The pump is operated by a timer in an electrical box with the breaker next to the pool equipment, which is under a piece of roof overhang (protected from rain) and it’s been fairly dry here for the last few months.  There are 3 buttons on the timer, 1 for high, 1 for low and 1 I do not use.  The timer is set as per the schedule above, but can be manually turned on using the buttons.

Last week, the pump shut off (tripped breaker).  When resetting the breaker, I found it would only turn on when in the low setting.  If I try to turn it on the high setting, you can hear the humming noise it does before kicking off the pump, but something in the pump seems to “trip” a few seconds later and then the breaker trips.  When I turn off the breaker for a few seconds, you can hear something in the pump click (as if its resetting), and then upon turning the breaker back on, I can run the pump on low only.

I did find (coincidentally?) that the pump was leaking at the bottom.  I went ahead and replaced the shaft seal, which fixed the leak.  However, the issue above still persists.

Any ideas what could be causing this?  I’ve read a few similar threads on your site that indicate it could be the breaker, the run capacitor or the entire motor needs to be replaced.  Given the pump was leaking, is it even worth trying to chase the possibility of the breaker being the issue?  Appreciate any recommendation and associated parts on your site I would need to buy to resolve the issue, obviously starting with the most economic option working my way up to replacing the entire motor if need be.

Thanks,
