Pump speed

What is the slowest speed of the Badu  2.4 vari. speed pump? The energy curve showes 750rpm but I thought somewhere I saw that it only goes down to 1150rpm.

Dale

Hi bandyboy,

The 2.4 variable speed Speck Pump has a low speed of 1035 RPM’s, I do show where our product page shows a RPM of 600 and we do need change that. The 2.4 VSP pump uses a US Motors motor where the Speck 2.7 HP variable speed pump uses a Century Motor which has a low speed of 600 RPM’s.

Thank You

Patrick

I can’t find a 2.7 hp varie speed pump on your web site.

Hi Dale,

We don’t currently have the Speck 2.7 HP Variable Speed on the website but we do have these available to ship. The 2.7 HP Speck Variable Speed Pump with removable controller is $999 IG245-V270T-000 the controller mounting kit 2514080002 is $129. Patrick, last question I hope. Am I splitting hars??? I can buy a pump that will go down to 600 rpm but it will cost about $300.00 more than the Speck. At 600 rpm will it rum the filtertration sysyem properly? Am asuming the pump will have to run almost twice as long. So will there be any energy savings compared to the Speck at 1035 rpm for a shorter time?

Thanks for all your help

Dale

Hi Dale,

Could you give me the following information as this would help me determine if the other pump would work for you…

  • What is the make and model of the other variable speed pump?
  • How many gallons is your pool?
  • Will the pump be powering anything else like a spa, water features or solar?
  • What is the approximate distance from your pump to the main drain at the bottom of the pool?
  • What is the approximate distance from your pump to the skimmer at the side of the pool (if you have 2 supply both distances)?
  • What size plumbing do you have going into the pump? (there should be digital writing on the pipe that says 1.5" or 2")
  • Which filter do you have your pool? (there should be a label on the side of your filter, that gives you a model name and #)

All this info. would help me make the proper suggestion.

Thank You

Patrick

Hi bandyboy,

You will definitely see a larger savings when you reduce RPM’s at the higher speeds for example reducing from 3,450 RPM’s to 2,450 RPM’s would see a much larger operational savings then reducing from 2,450 RPM’s to 1,450 RPM’s, with this being said you will not see a very large savings between 600 RPM’s and 1,000 RPM’s. I have a similar sized pool to your pool and I have settled in at approximately 1,250 RPM’s for my normal filtration anything lower than this seems to be not not powerful enough to maintain the pool. Based on the pricing and your pool specifications I would suggest the Speck Pump. I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thank You

Patrick
