Pool Pump- what horse power should I have

My pool pump tag is attached. It was replaced a couple of years ago and ever since I don’t have good pressure. When I try to vacuum, it won’t hold suction. I have bought all new vacuum equipment thinking I might have hole in hose and such. But nothing worked. Thinking pump may not have enough power.

Hi Marcia, we are sorry to hear about that. My bet is that your current 1HP SuperFlo pump is just not high-powered enough to get the suction you want or need for your vacuum.

The power of your pump is directly related to the motor AND the impeller (and sometimes the diffuser). I might recommend replacing the motor and drivetrain with the Pentair SuperFlo VS Motor Upgrade Kit - 2.2HP - MKIT78VS22. It will give you better flow/suction at higher speeds and will save you quite a bit (and probably pay for itself) on your electric bill.

This guide on How To Replace the Motor on Your Pool Pump will show you the steps on how to do it.
