Looks like I need to replace my Hayward Super Pump motor. It’s a model # C48K2N143B1, serial number is 16810CH.
A few questions…
How old is this pump? Can you tell by those numbers?
What motor do you recomend as an identical replacement?
What motor do you recomend as an upgrade?
I read on here that there may be a motor with WIFI built in. What model is that? What are it’s capabilities?
Thanks!!
Hi Grifter,
Thanks for the post! Based on your serial # your motor was manufactured in 2010. The identical replacement will be the UST1102 1 HP Super Pump Replacement Motor. If you wanted to upgrade to an ultra energy efficient motor then this would be the Super Pump Variable Speed 1.65 HP Replacement Motor If you go this route you will need replace your current 1 HP impeller with this 1.5 HP Super Pump Impeller. Either route you go you will also need a Super Pump Seal Kit. The nice thing about variable speed pumps is that you have the ability to ramp the pump all the way up to 1.65 HP if you need to for things like vacuuming, spa jets, water features, solar, etc… but for the vast majority of the time you will have the pump dialed down to a very low HP for general pool filtration and this is where you will see all of your energy savings. Typically you can see a savings of 50% - 75% operational cost savings over a single speed pump.
The variable speed motor has the option to add the V-Link Wireless Controller which allows you to control your pump wirelessly through a smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer. Here is a Video on the V-Link and Variable Speed Motor that may be helpful for you.
