I replaced the capacitor and completly rebuilt the pool pump the first part of May, and I appreciated all your assistance through that process. The pump motor has now started making a loud squeling noise which I can only assume means that when th pump overheated it warped the barings and now they have gone. I’m guessing I need to buy a new pump motor. Do I also need to buy a new tune-up kit or is the one I just put in going to be good to go? Thank, Kirk…
Hello KirksPool - Whenever you replace a pool pump motor, the shaft seal should be replaced. The other o-rings that you just replaced should be ok.
We can recommend the correct motor and shaft seal. What is the catalog or part number on the motor? What is the make and model of the pump?
Thank you, The pump motor is the “A.O. Smith 1 HP Full Rated North Star Replacement Motor - SN1102”. If you could point me in the right direction for the shaft seal that would be much appreciated.
I’m sorry I should also tell you it is a “Hayward Northstar Pump, 2008 to Current” and I use salt water. Thanks
KirksPool - SN1102 is the correct 1HP full rated motor for the Hayward Northstar. Part number PS-4280 is the salt water shaft seal.

There are two motor options for the 2HP Northstar. You’d want to replace your motor with one that has a service factor that is equal to or greater than your current motor.

The Northstar gasket and seal kit is part number GOKIT66. It will work on versions of the Northstar. However, the lid gasket included in the kit will only work on models manufactured in 2003 and prior.Click Here to View the GOKIT66
