Pool Pump Motor BN35V1 Will Not Pump Water

I recently purchsed a replacement Pump Motor Model BN35V1. The specs for the new motor are basically identical to that of the old pump motor.  I had no problem installing the new motor. Electrical hookup was fine also. Just to see if the new motor worked, I ran it for less than one minute before putting all the Pool Filter parts back together. The new motor seemed to run fine. Startup was smooth and when the Centrifugal Switch kicked on the RPM’s increased as expected. I finished assembling the Pool Filter and made sure the hoses were connected properly. After filling the Filter System with water I switched on the new Pump Motor. I was immediately dissapointed to hear the motor start very slowly. The motor did not get high enough RPM’s to cause the Centrifugal Switch to activate. I immediately shut the motor off and took the Filter apart to see if I could find why the Motor was turning so slowly under load with water in the system. With the Filter apart again I ran the motor and it seemed ok. High RPM’s again anyway. This time I let the Motor run for about 3 minutes and it seemed to be running very smooth, quiet, and cool. With the Filter Parts put back together again and the system filled with water, the motor would not get going enough to create any pressure in the system. Line voltage is 120v and I  never had this problem with the previous motor which was replaced due to deterioration and bad bearings. With this Motor Replacement I also installed a new Seal Assembly and Impeller.

So, my new BN35V1 Pump Motor will not operate under normal load.

Thank You for any help you might have with this situation.

Hello mjc164- It appears that you have done your homework to resolve this issue by yourself, but you may have received a defective motor. Thank goodness for the one year warranty the motors come with. I would contact the seller and inform them of your problem. They will need to process a warranty claim to have your motor replaced.

I hope that helps. Thank you for the question!
