Pool pump housing connections

I am looking to purchase a 1.5 HP Hayward Super Pump (SP2610X15) but first want to make sure I will be able to install it given my current plumbing set-up. As you can see from the attached image, there are several 90 degree angles and cuplings that are placed very close together with minimal piping in between. Looking at the photo, do you have a recommendation on how to install the new pump into the 2 inch diameter pipes? Would like a recommendation for both the top and bottom piping connections.

Thanks,

Chris

Hello Simmy1995 (Chris),

There isn’t much I can add in the form of suggestions of plumbing on this one. You do not have a lot of room to play with where your pump connections are. This is definitely going to take some replumbing on the intake side. This will be tricky as you will need to rebuild the connections where the two 45-degree angles are and where the 90-degreee angle is. On the output side, I would recommend trying to eliminate two of the 90-degree angles. The idea is every 90-degree you have reduces the flow rate slightly, so replacing those with straight pipes as much as possible will maintain your pump’s performance.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Hi Simmy1995,

Any 90’s you can remove will really help your flow. We put together a Video on How to Fix Pool Pump Plumbing Issues which you may find helpful. I have listed the video below…
