Pool Pump and /or motor replacement

I have a Jacuzzi model 1UMF-S 94027110 pool pump system and the motor seems to be making a wavering sound as it runs. Sounds like the bearings might be going bad or impellar not exactly sure. The system was installed in 2004 and the only thing that has been done is I have replaced seals twice using the GOKIT. I am debating whether to replace just the motor or the whole system with another 1UMF-S pump. The current motor is an A. O. Smith 1HP (1.25) # 8-184948-22  Type CX 230/115 volt 7.0/14.0 Amp 3450 RPM 60HZ. If I were to replace the motor what would be the model number? I’m thinking an ST1102 or UST1102 but not sure if so whats the difference if either works?

Hello Tom - Check out our article titled “Pump or Motor: To Replace or Not to Replace…That is the Question”.

The replacement motor needs to have a total HP rating that is equal to or greater than the current motor. Total HP can be calculated by multiplying HP x SF. In your case, the ST1102 would be the correct replacement. We recommend replacing the seals if you replace the motor. The seal kit is GOKIT14.

Thanks Rob, I’ve replaced the seals before twice but would probably do it again since its been a couple of years. What would be the correct impeller and diffuser if I choose to replace those?

The impeller would be part number 05385406R and the diffuser would be part number 06016703R.

Hey Rob, If I elect to replace my Magnum Force pool pump  1UMF-S 94027110 with the same one you list on your site for $349.99 will all the plumbing connections on the new pump  line up with my existing connections?  Also I am wired for the higher voltage so would those connect to the motor the same way as I have now?

The plumbing connections on our Magnum Force 1UMF-S will match your Magnum Force ports. The pump will be set on 230 when it arrives. It should wire up the same way.

I want to replace my existing pool pump motor in which Rob stated I would need the A.O. Smith ST1102 since I have an  A. O. Smith 1HP (1.25) # 8-184948-22  Type CX 230/115 volt 7.0/14.0 Amp 3450 RPM 60HZ…  I am currently running the higher voltage so If I purchase the ST1102 are there any suggestions on where to connect the wiring to the ST1102? Are they marked on the motor to indicate which is for the higher voltage and which is the lower voltage?

Thanks.

There is a wiring diagram on the motor label. The motor comes from the factory set on 220v. You can connect one hot line to L1 and the other hot line to L2.

I currently have a Jacuzzi Magnum Pump 1UMF-S 94027110 which is 1HP and needs replacing and I see that it is no longer available so my question is would the 94027115 with a 1 1/2 HP motor be compatible with my system? I have a Jacuzzi laser sand filter 225l. My pool is 16’ X 32’ approximately 21,000 gal.
