I painted with two part epoxy about 5 years ago. Pool surface is Plaster, I use liquid chlorine as santizer .
I Acid washed surfaces, pressured washed, all that good stuff. I’d say paint lasted about two years before starting fade away. Noticed bottom of swimmer’s feet color of paint. Also, I only laid one coat of paint. I think part of issue was i was dropping liquid chlorine directly along walls when sanitizing as opposed to mixing in water and throwing in on water insetad of along the wall. Any ideas, guidance, what paint to use that will last longer this time, besides direct chlroination. Thanks
The best type of pool paint is epoxy paint. It offers the best durability and longest lifespan compared to other pool paint options.
However, the longevity of the paint will largely depend on maintaining proper water chemistry. Always ensure chemicals are applied correctly:
Dilute chemicals before adding them to the pool.
Keep the pH within the proper range (not too high or too low).
Avoid excessively high chlorine levels.
Proper chemical balance and careful application will help protect the epoxy coating and extend the life of the pool paint.
