Pool liner install this season and water seems to be dropping

We had a liner installed late last year during pool closing. We opened the pool 2 months ago it was ok but not water level seems to be dropping. Not sure what is the problem. It is dropping like a 1/2 inch per day. Any suggestions? Could it be under the ground piping? I hope not. As the pool had been installed for over 20+ yrs ago… we moved in about 10 yrs and never experienced issues. What else can we do. The pool as a 3 pipes that goes into the ground. Top skimmer, middle and bottom. I saw a small tore on the liner at near but patched it so not sure if that will help at all. Any suggestions appreciated.

Hello Phillip - Thank you for contacting Inyo. You can use the phenol red liquid from a ph test kit to locate a leak. With the pump off, squeeze a few drops near suspected leak areas. Common areas would be the liner seams, skimmers, lights, return jets, and main drains. If there is a leak, the red liquid will be drawn in.

If it’s not in one of those common areas, we recommend hiring a leak detection company.
