I have a Hayward Universal ColorLogic that I am trying to replace. I was able to twist off the white ring on the outside but can’t seem to remove the light. I checked to see if there were any fasteners or clips holding it on but looks like there isn’t. Do I just keep twisting counter clockwise? Just don’t want to go too hard and break something in the niche.
There are a few versions of these lights so I would recommend checking out the owner’s manuals for them. Here is the manual for the nicheless lights and here is the manual for the ColorLogic lights that use a regular niche.
The tool to install/remove the nicheless lights is difficult to find. You may need to scour the internet (eBay is a good source) or check to see if a local pool store or installer may have one that you can borrow. One is included with each light but often the installer takes them with them when they are done.
Yes this worked! I’m able to pull the light out of the water but it seems the cord is somehow secured to the niche ? I gave it a pretty good strong steady pull and meeting a ton of resistance with zero movement. Is there some sort of grommets holding this on ?
That’s good to hear! I’m glad there was enough cord to get the fixture to dry ground. Generally, there is nothing holding the power cord for the light in other than the junction box at the other end (presumably by your equipment pad). Be very careful - it is very difficult to fish a new wire in if the wires get pulled out at the junction box.
The lighting conduit should be glued and sealed but occasionally they can develop a leak and pool owners “fix” the leak by placing a stopper, butyl tape, or silicone cement in the light niche, so be sure to check for things like that before pulling the cord out. Thank you for all your help!
New light installed ! Tried to cheap out and not use lubricant which was a huge mistake. As soon as I squeezed some down the conduit the cable ran no problem. Thanks again for all your help
I’m glad to hear that everything worked!
