Pool Heater Not Coming On

I’m currently running all Pentair Equipment via the Intellitouch system.  Everything works as normal and when I select spa all my actuators turn to divert to spa and at this point I usually hear the heater kick on.  When my heater didn’t kick on, I began to do some investigating and realized the heater wasn’t gettng power.

I can’t seem to find any pictures of the back of a Pentair heater.  Currently, there is a conduit that holds the wiring that terminates into the back of the heater.  There is also a ground wire connected to a grounding clamp on the back of the heater.  BUT, the magic question is there is a third single wire that comes out of the back of the heater and just ends and doesn’t connect to anything.  My dogs were back there barking the other day behind the heater which lead me to believe there may have been a snake or something which is common so I shewed them away.  I haven’t turned the heater on since then and when I went to look as to why the heater wouldn’t come on I noticed this single wire that sticks out that is not connected to anything.  There is a chance my dogs could have chewed this but if they did I don’t see the other end of what it would have connected too?

So my question is on a pentiar pool heater, does anybody know what the single wire sticking out of the back of the heater is.  This single wire is seperate from the large group of wires going through the conduit.
