Pentair Pump Leak

I have a Pentair programable speed pump. When the pump goes off, you can hear an air leak coming from the pump. Also can hear air bubbling up the pressure side outlet pipe to the filter. The basket retains the prime. I am guessing the shaft seal. Any other possibilities???

An air leak would usually be the result of a bad pump lid o-ring. We would recommend replacing all of the seals at once. This way you don’t miss anything. What is the model of your Pentair pump?

Rob. Out of town at the moment. I dont the exact model. I want to say VS that runs off the EasyTouch system. I would agree with the lid seal but I dont see any air coming in. The water stays in the basket until the filter has completely emptied itself. I was also think thinking maybe the threaded seal on the outlet pipe.

It could also be the housing gasket. Although, you’d probably see a drip between the volute and seal plate.

Ok. When I get back and work on it. I will check that out. Thanks for the help.

You’re welcome. Good luck!

Found the problem. Tightened the bolts that held the flange and also the pump to the housing. They were about 1 turn short of bring tight.

We’re glad to hear you found the problem. Thank you for coming back and giving us an update.
