New Pool Heat Pump Required

I am having a new pool installed. A 12 x 24 ft with average depth of 4,5 ft in ground located in Grand Cayman where the temp is very similar to S Florida if you dont know it and is humid. Looking to heat it from Oct to Mar roughly. Looking for a  few options for such a size. Please include units that have low decibels and also those with cooling capacity for summer.

Looking at electric - not gas.

All recommendations/comments greatly appreciated.

Also how effective is the liquid blanket?

Many thanks

Hello Michael B - We have a couple heat pumps/chillers that would be sufficient for your pool size and location. The first option would be Aquacal model SQ120R. This is a very quiet heat pump that operates at 55 dB. Another option is the Raypak R6350TI-E-HC. This one operates at 59 dB. Both units are very quiet and very durable.

The liquid solar blankets are not as effective as the standard solar blankets. They do work well at first. Over time the chemical dissipates and they become less effective.

Thank you for shopping with INYOpools.com!

Hi Rob,

Thats great - thanks. What units would you recommend if I dont need the chiller aspect?

Re the blankets - my wife is worried about our cats going on them and not getting back out/drowning! Any comments?

Similar non-chiller models to what was listed above are Raypak R6350TI-E and AquaCal SQ110.

There is a risk of an animal drowning if they walk out on the solar blanket. The liquid solar blanket might be your best option.

Rob,

In terms of noise/decibels, is the difference between the  Aquacal SQ and non-SQ models that noticable? There seems to be a reasonable difference in price between the SQ and non-SQ models.

Also, is the SQ110R available?

MichaelB - I am not able to discern the difference between the two decibel levels. Unfortuately the SQ110R is not available.

Hi Rob. Just been visit a couple of pool guiys locally and one of them suggested that an electric spa heater would be sufficient and that there would be no need to spend more on a bigger heater! The other suggested that a 50,000 BTU would also be good! Any thoughts please as I am a real novice here?

An electric spa heater would be undersized. A 50K btu heat pump should be sufficient for the majority of the year. We didn’t originally recommend one that size because you wanted one with a chilling capability.
