Hello
I’m looking for a replacement pump for my fiberglass 12000 gallon inground pool (San Juan Monte Carlo).
I have a single overflow and two bottom drains all at the same end as the pump. Pool depth is 5’-6".
I currently have a Sta-Rite SuperMax 1.00 HP (PHK2RA6E-102L) pump and my plumbing is 1 1/2 PVC. I also
have two output jets at the other end of the pool. I’ve been looking at your web site and I’m having some difuculty
finding my best options. I would be intersted in a single speed and possibly a variable speed option.
Not sure if some one could help me out and give some suggestions.
Thanks for any help you could provide.
Thank You!
Kevin
Hi Kevin,
Thanks for the photos and information on your pool! For your set up I would suggest a 1 HP Hayward Super Pump if you are going the single-speed route. If you are going Variable Speed then I would suggest the 1.4 HP Waterway Power Defender Pump. You will save a ton on your operational costs by upgrading to a Variable Speed Motor normally 50%-70%. Here is an article we wrote on the Energy Savings of a Single Speed Pool Pump Vs. a Variable Speed Pool Pump. For single speed, I like the Hayward as this pump has been around for a long time and is tried and true, plus parts are pretty inexpensive and easy to come by. For the variable speed pump, I like the Waterway Pump because of the price point and I don’t think you need anything larger that will cost you about twice as much. I hope this helps and if you have any additional questions don’t hesitate to ask.
