Motor won't start on high speed

My hot tub motor will only start in high speed when the motor is already running in lowe speed.  If I try to start the motor in the off position in high speed,  it just hums like it has a bad capacitor.  It starts fine in low speed, and once running in low speed, it kicks into high speed just fine.  With only one start capacitor I didn’t see how that could be the problem as it starts fine on low.

Thanks,

Dave

Hello Dave - It could be a bad capacitor. That is a common issue when the motor does not start in high speed. You will also want to confirm that the motor has the proper voltage at the terminal connections and the amp draw at the motor is running within the nameplate specs.
