My motor is Model K63CXERA-4768 ( HP 2.0, S.F 1.20, 208-230v, 10.3-9.5) and pump is what I think is a Hayward Super II (Strainer Cover PN: 3100D and only other number is EC-1225)
Filter is a Pentair FNS-Plus 36 Sq. ft.
Pool is 25,000 gal with 2" piping.
Can I replace my motor with the ECM16CU and/or would it be better if i replaced pump and motor with PL2605?
Goal is to reduce cost and I live in Texas if Climate plays a factor.
Thanks,
Hi GeeHaw,
You could replace your motor with the ECM16CU but you would also need to replace your impeller and you would need a seal kit too. So I would suggest the PL2605 PureLine Prime Variable Speed Pump which uses the ECM16CU motor, this will be a better value. The only other thing to consider is that you would be reducing your HP on the high speed from 2.2 Total HP on your current pump to 1.65 Total HP on the high speed of the PL2605. Do you currently seem to have more than adequate flow with your pump? Is the pump powering anything else besides your pool filtration, like spa jets, waterfalls, solar, etc…?
With the PL2605 variable speed pump you have a full range of HP from .5 HP all the way up to 1.65 HP. If you think you will need to have a higher range on the high setting, meaning that if you would like to be able to ramp the pump up higher than 1.65 HP then the PL2606 2.7 HP PureLine Prime Variable Speed Pump would be what we suggest. The PL2606 has a range from .75 HP up to 2.7 HP this would be a good pump if you have other water features that the pump is powering like spa jets, waterfalls, in-floor pop-up cleaning heads or solar. We hope this helps, let us know if you have any questions.
Thank You
Patrick
