What is the difference between a Full rated pump/motor and an Uprated pump/motor?
Thanks @Meelowslavich The difference between a Full Rated Motor and an Up Rated motor is the service factor, the service factor will help determine the True HP (THP) of a motor. A full rated motor has a higher service factor meaning that that it is more powerful than the HP in an uprated motor. This is easiest explained through showing the math… below is the comparison of a 1 HP Up Rate Motor Vs. a 1 HP Full Rate Motor.
1 HP Up Rate Motor - 1 HP x 1.1 Service Factor (SF) = 1.1 True HP (THP)
1 HP Full Rate Motor - 1 HP x 1.5 Service Factor (SF) = 1.5 True HP (THP)
In most cases a 1 HP Full Rate would be identical to a 1.5 HP Up Rate. Here is a good article on the Difference between Up Rate and Full Rate Motors which you may find helpful.
