I was advised that I should run my VS pump at a flowrate high enough to generate 15 psi at the DE filter for best performance of the filter. Do you agree with this advise?
Hello SteveR - I do not agree with that advice. There is a minimum flow rate to properly backwash a filter. That may have been what they were referring to when they told you that.
Filters do not list a minimum operating flow rate because they work better when the flow rate is low. On the other hand, a maximum flow rate is listed because the filtering quality is diminished as the flow increases. A flow rate higher than the maximum gpm also has the ability to damage the filter.
