Hello, I have a new Pureline variable speed 1.5 hp pump I ordered here, and the filter basket that came with it is loose - it doesn’t fit well inside the filter chamber, and water and small leaves can get around the top edges of the basket and into the impeller. After only a month, my pump impeller was totally clogged up. I’ve checked to make sure the basked was it the chamber properly (i.e. it was in all the way), and that the lid is put on right, but the basket is still loose. Is this a design flaw? I can’t be removing the pump, taking it apart, cleaning the impeller, and putting it all back together every month. Thanks…

Below are pictures of the basket in the pump pot. The spacing between the basket and the intake port looks to be about 1/4". Is this the same as what you have in your strainer pot?
Yes, that’s exactly how mine is, great pictures. The basket should fit snug in the pump pot with no gaps. Leaves and debris get through that gap and make it into the impeller, and after just a few weeks the pump gets weaker and weaker, and the impeller has to be cleaned (and not just a little, but a LOT).

I’ve installed the new pump, it works great, and just sent off the old one, entered the tracking number. The old pump might still need to be cleaned inside. Thanks for all your assistance.
