Looking for recommendations on a new pump/filter combo

Hello,

Last year we moved into a house which has a 23 year old (installed in 1994) Delair “Family Ties” 24’ round by 4’ high (13,600 gallons) above-ground pool system. It has a Hayward 3/4hp pump power flo pump with a Sta-Rite Cristol-Flo sand filter (T-240BP-1).

I know the pool is probably on its last legs, but, it’s still doing it’s job. However, the pump is very loud & we’d like to upgrade to the most efficient cartridge filtration system (DE?), to minimize maintenance responsibilities. I also need to make sure that whatever pump/filter system we purchase now can be adapted to a replacement pool, like the Intex pools I’ve been seeing a lot of (when we purchase a new pool it will probably be deeper (5’) but not so big indiameter as our current pool).  I’d also like the new pump to be ultra-quiet and muti-speed; we were eaten alive by electric costs last summer. What pump/filter combo would you recommend for me?

Thank you.

Jim

Thanks

Jim

Ok, I just spent a few hours on the internet & I came up w/the following (see below) - what do you think of my selections, given our needs as posted previously?

  • Pentair 188592 Quad D.E. Cartridge Style D.E. Pool Filter, 60 Square Foot, 120 GPM
  • Pentair 32001 superflo VS pool pump 1 1/2hp (energy star)

Thank you. Jim

Hi Jim,

I think those systems would be overkill for your pool and even a larger above ground pool down the line. I would suggest this Dual Speed Hayward Cartridge Filter System This is a very quiet system and the dual speed will really help out on your electrical bill.
