Just ordered a locking ring (PN# 4860-002) for my 2000 Pro Line sand Filter system with the Astral valve. The old ring split. Is it difficult to replace? Does the ring go over the top of the valve or mount from the bottom
The lock ring is not difficult to install. You would put the ring on the filter body and then the valve.
Thank you for your response. I just don’t see how to get the locking ring past the return and waste outlets on the valve. Even with the fittings removed, the locking ring does not appear large enough to pass over the outlets.
Can you loosen the nut so that you can remove the nut and valve at the same time?
I’m sorry I do not understand. I removed the locking nut and valve assembly from it’s position on the sand container. The locking nut spins freely on the flange that sits on the o-ring of the container when in place. How does the new locking ring mount onto this flange on the bottom of the valve assembly. Thanks
I apologize but I didn’t realize the valve and nut had already been removed from the filter. I should have looked at the picture closer.
I’m checking with our Astral rep to see if he has any tips on removing the lock nut. We’ll respond as soon as we hear back.
Hello, I recieved the part (Lock ring) and are awaiting instructions on how to replace. I had epoxyed the old ring and it worked for a day or so and then blew apart. It’s finally getting warm in the Northeast and i am craving my pool!!!
Thanks for any assistance you can get from Astral.
Hey, I figured it out…Like a ruibicks cube!, i moved it around and got it seated. Thanks for all your help!
WE ARE ARE FIXED! AMAZING YOU HAD THE PART!
Thanks for the update, Rush. Did you end up getting the lock ring off on the bottom or did you have to maneuver it up and over the ports?
Up and over the ports after a little finagling. Thanks for your help. It really had me scratching my head. Looking at it…You would not think it could be done. Problem resolved!
Glad to hear that. We appreciate your feedback.
