Jandy Replacement Pump

I have a Jandy FHPM-2.0 that was installed in 2010.  Last year the capacitor died and was replaced which exploded yesterday.  I have performed tests to the best of my ability and think the windings are good as well as the bearings.  When the capacitor was replaced, the centrifugal switch (if there is one) was not replaced.

How long should I expect this pump to last (live in Florida so it runs year round.)?

Considered just replacing the whole motor, but cannot find the matching model number for Jandy FHPM-2.0. What options would I have here?

Would it be more cost effective to just replace the whole pump?

Hello WJBene,

I cannot determine the length of time a motor would be expected to last. There are too many factors involved to provide a timeframe including the region you live. Generally speaking, the average lifespan of a motor is between 5-10 years as long as there is not a shaft seal leak damaging the motor bearings.

The correct replacement motor would be the A.O. Smith 2 HP, 56Y Frame, Up-Rate Motor - B855. Any time you change out the motor, we recommend you replace the shaft seal. The correct replacement seal is the Shaft Seal (R0479400) OEM.

From a cost perspective, it would be more expensive to replace the entire pump versus the motor and seals.

Thank you for your question!
