Hello,
What is the difference between a 3/4 HP diffuser and impeller and those for a 1.5 HP motor?
I have a Pentair Dyna Glas Pump 3/4HP model #MPRA6D-146L. I upgraded the motor from 3/4 HP to 1.5 HP. Only later, did I notice that when you buy this pump with the 1.5 HP motor stock, it comes with a different impeller and diffuser. Is it absoulutely required that I also upgrade those components? Or will it work OK with the existing impeller and diffuser?
So far, the pump seems to work fine with the existing impeller and diffuser. Will it be stable this way?
Stock Part #'s (in the pump now):
Impeller: C105-236p
Diffuser: C1-270PB
Upgraded part #'s (do I need these?):
Impeller: C105-236PC
Diffuser: C1-270P
Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

Hi Robert,
You could keep your 3/4 HP diffuser and impeller but your 1.5 HP motor will only be outputting the water of a 3/4 HP pump so the additional HP of the larger motor is wasted. You will also be paying to power a larger 1.5 HP motor which costs roughly 35% more to operate but only getting the output of the 3/4 HP pump.
If you wanted to get the full output of your new 1.5 HP motor then you would need to replace your impeller and diffuser with these…
Impeller: C105-236PC
Diffuser: C1-270P
Also, if you have not done so I would suggest a Dyna-Glas Tune Up Kit when replacing your motor. Here is a Video on How to Replace a Pool Impeller which you may find helpful. I hope this helps.
Thank You

Hello Patrick,
Thank you for the response. I will be getting those parts you’ve suggested as soon as I have the money. I already got the tune-up kit once, but had to return it because it was the wrong one. I’ll be getting it again when I get the new impeller and diffuser. My house is solar, so the cost increase isn’t as big a deal for me.
Thanks!

Thanks Robert, let us know how it all turns out.
Thank You
