Our salt water in ground pool is 319 sq. feet and 10,000 gallons, 3-5 foot deep. We have a variable speed Pentair pump. We live in AZ outside of Phoenix in the East Valley. In the summer the pool gets full sun all day but in Autumn in gets partial shade due to the shadow of the patio cover.
We are talking about getting a heat pump to increase our pool time. We have been using a solar cover which has helped alot.I typically use the pool from the end of March thru the begining of October (at that time of year the nights are in the mid 60s).
We would like to increase this by a couple weeks in front and several weeks behind. We would like to keep the water temp between 82-85 degrees using the heat pump. The heat pump would be in the morning sun in winter but have sun most of the day in summer.
I am unsure of the size to get and how much of an increase of pool time we would get. I was also wondering about cooling the pool during the summer when the water temp gets to 97 degrees. How much could we cool it down if we got the type of pump that both heats and cools?
