I am beyond frustrated. I cannot get the slack out of my multiport valve handle.
I thought maybe it was a weak spring so I ordered the “Hayward SP715 Multiport Valve O-Ring Kit (Includes Spring)” and spent 4 hours rebuilding the thing…getting that pin back in the handle is a MF! Glued the Spider valve in; replace the Multiport valve assembly; tighten all the screws … and the handle is “floppy”. What will happen now is the first time I go to rotate the multiport valve, the valve won’t lift up high enough to keep from dragging across the spider valve and then water will begin leaking into the backwash line.
This is the 3rd time I’ve taken this thing apart. What am I doing wrong? Am I tightening the valve assembly too much? Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. My pool is a swamp…
