I have a Hayward DE filter and I just purchased a Hayward C4030 cartridge from Inyo to replace it. I see the ports in and out line up on both filters. Do I have to remove the Push Pull valve that is currently installed or can I simply reconnect at that point? I understand the recommendation is to re-plumb without the push pull valve, but wondering if there is any downside to reconnecting and saving the re-plumbing exercise. Thank you!
We contacted Hayward tech support and this was their response.
The SwimClear model # C4030 does not work with a slide-valve nor a multiport valve, but instead connects directly to the inlet and outlet plumbing. The SwimClear includes a union kit # SP3200UNKIT with two union connectors, two union nuts, and two union gaskets for connecting the filter to the plumbing.
Wondering why you would convert from a Hayward DE to a standard Hayward Cartridge? I thought the DE was more effective.
I’ve owned both cartridge and DE and I find cartridge less of a hassle to maintain. So after getting about 15 years out of the DE filter thought I’d switch. Installed this weekend, all went well. Pool clarity is not much different than the DE. Overall happy with the results.
