Hello Everyone,
Does a check valve have to be before the pump (vacuum side) or can it be placed after the pump (pressure side)? I do not have enough room for it on the vacuum side unless I relocate the new pump and reroute all the plumbing. Intuitively, I would guess it makes no difference, but I’d like other opinions.
Thank you for your assistance and opinions.
Hello Dave - You don’t need a check valve between the pump and filter. In most cases, they aren’t needed on the vacuum side of the pump.
Hi Rob. Thank you for your answer. I always had a check valve on the vacuum side of my old pump. I figured that as long as I have it, I may as well use it. If I choose to use it, then could I put it between the pump and filter? Any drawbacks or should I just eliminate it?
I would just eliminate it. There really isn’t a benefit to installing one between the pump and filter.
Ok. Thank you for the advise. I appreciate it.
