Hi Guys, I have a Magnatek/Century Centurion, 1.5 HP, Cat: 182261-04 single speed which I would like to replace. The pool is 20X40 with a spa, circa 1982. I am not sure what the flange size is on the pump. Am I able to replace it with a Century V-Green 1.65 Variable Speed (round flange) ECM16CU? Please advise…
Thanks for your motor information. You could go with a variable speed motor but you would need to go up the 2.7 HP ECM27CU Variable Speed Replacement Motor as your current motor has a high service factor of 1.3 which means it has a True HP of 1.95 and if you used the 1.65 HP Motor with your 1.95 HP Impeller then you would overwork the motor and it would fail quickly. Another option would be to go with the 1.65 HP motor but downgrade your impeller to a smaller impeller. Could you post a few pictures of your pump and motor label as this would help us make the proper suggestions for the impeller and shaft seal?
Hello Keith - It looks like you have the Hydromax II pump. If you want to go down in total HP to the ECM16CU, you’ll need to change the impeller to part number SPX3010C. The shaft seal is part number AS-1521.
