Can’t open Polaris 380 backup valve

The backup valve on my Polaris 380 has stopped working. I wanted to take it apart and see if I could find the issue. Problem is I can’t get the collar but to budge. Has anyone had success opening the backup valve unit for a Polaris pool vacuum?

Hello Tom - The nut on the backup valve is hard to remove. We’ve had good luck using a strap wrench when removing the nut.
